I thought that being back in America would feel like I had one week to live. In many ways it has felt that way. I have stuffed myself with espresso, good beer, rich foods, family, friends, babies–everything you would want to do in your final week. But we are here at the end of our trip and I still feel like there is some life left in me. Lindsay and I are sad to leave our family again, but excited to return to our life in Korea. Kimchi, gimbap and Hite beer are no substitute for lasagna, brownies or American microbrews, but we decided a long time ago not to make such comparisons. Instead we have made a concerted effort to love Korea for what it is, not what we think it should be.
We will be on a plane back to the Land of the Morning Calm in about 24 hrs. We sure wish we could pack our family and friends in our suitcases, but we will just have to settle for the next time our paths cross.
Great to see you.
